They’d see that God is actually a pretty merciful God and always restores those who He lovingly disciplines.

Yeah there are epic battles. But such is the way and consequence of the Fall.  

Don’t tell me that there is no violence in the New Testament too or that it was toned down from the Old Testament.  

While the OT was violent in the macro level, dealing with groups of people. The NT dealt with inner and personal persecution, and violence.
